Okay, time to put this in the FAQ. Ugh.
At present, it is safe to say (whether I mean it or not) that there will
never be a fourth Matrix movie. Actually, I'm nearly certain that there will
be, but it will be many years in the future, probably after 2010.
In the mean time, you can expect a second Animatrix probably before 2005,
and I'm sure there will be more stories, games, and other ways to continue
the Matrix story.
But no live-action movies for several years. >> Stay informed about: Do you hope to see The Matrix IV in the future? |

I wouldn't be surprised if they did a TV-series. Someone's already thought
of that, somewhere, rest assured... now the question is if they'll ever
actually do it. Unfortunately, as much as I love The Matrix, I wouldn't
want to see them overdo it and wreck it. But, if we're never gonna see
another movie (or at least in the near future), I'd like to see it
happen--ONLY if the Wachowskis have control over it. They have to be
faithful to what makes the Matrix what it is. Sci-Fi Channel and Showtime
(cable channels in the States, if you didn't know) do pretty good series, I
think they could handle it...

Oh, god, no. 3 movies, 1 set of animated shorts, and a video game were
quite enough. (Actually, 1 movie was enough.) The W bros need to move on.
They've done just enough with this series to still be respectable. Any more
and it would just be milking it. The only thing I think that could
reasonably done in the way of continuation with this series at this point
would be either another set of Animatrix shorts (although there's only so
far they can go with this before it gets repetitive), or go back to comic
books, or possibly novels, though I don't see the W bros writing a
full-length book very well. Maybe if they hired a good novelist and made
sure they still had creative control... It would probably be moderately
successful, but only the super-fans would care, like the ones who bought the
Star Wars/Trek novels. (No, I'm not one of those people...) >> Stay informed about: Do you hope to see The Matrix IV in the future? |

Uh, too late. That happened two movies ago. >> Stay informed about: Do you hope to see The Matrix IV in the future? |

Considering the W Bros contributions to the
continuation of the series (the sequels, the comics
and anime shorts they wrote), I'd think the
novels would be better of if they *didn't* have
creative control. The better stuff has been by
people other than the W Bros.

One movie was not nearly enough. Who decides such a thing? The money spent
and made on the sequels on various media have more than proven the value of
continuing the story, regardless of others' opinions about it.
> The W bros need to move on.
Whatever. They're in business to make money. They're living life to learn
from their experiences. And that doesn't mean simply listening to what a few
self-righteous people have to say. They can make their own decisions, and
I'm not about to suggest whether they need to move on to other things or
continue on with the Matrix.
Quite simply, their decisions have no bearing on my life except for how I
choose to acknowledge them in the future. Their decisions are theirs,
though, and I have no opinion regarding how they should make them, because I
can simply choose to ignore the result if I don't like it. >> Stay informed about: Do you hope to see The Matrix IV in the future? |

Some feeble minds can't handle free and independent thought, hence the mess
the world of global politics is in. Instead of actually doing things for the
sake of the political system and the people it serves, people conform to
tradition and to the will of their peers (who only will it because of
tradition), and the system sinks into further disarray.
One day we will realize our mistake, but only as individuals... It will
always be too late to do anything significant about unless we actually do
something about it. Then, maybe everyone and their optimism would actually
bring about change because, since we all think it's a better idea anyway,
the action would actually get it done. >> Stay informed about: Do you hope to see The Matrix IV in the future? |

Could the title "Revolutions" imply that the 4th Matrix movie would in fact
be the 1st Matrix movie? All the same characters are still there, just
different versions, doing the same stuff, following the same paths, making
the same "choices". I think (not sure... I haven't watched it for a while)
the architect pointed that out.
I think a good series could be made, probably straying from the storyline of
the movies though. As has been pointed out before, Neo could be the latest
generation of super hero.
In regards to a prequel, isn't that in the animatrix (renaissance)?!
