Well, it has been so far...

How is everyone, I trust all is good... I've just been lurking lately,
hasn't really been anything that's I feel is worthy of a responce.

I just wanted to say that I've been reading The Da Vinci Code over the past
couple of days, and, while I still haven't finished the book (so don't give
anything away for me ;)), it does bring up some *extremely* interesting
point, with a lot of relevance to The Matrix trilogy.

One of the biggest things I wanted to note is the author blatantly states
that the Catholic Church has 'altered' history to suit their purpose, and
that the church had to adapt to become the dominating religion that it
currently is.

This doesn't sound anywhere near as interesting as it did in my head (as
usual, what I mean and what I say are three different things ;)), but I
still urge you to read the book... I've got through 300 pages in 5 days and
the last book(s) that I read were Harry Potter, so...

I just started The DaVinci Code at the weekend, after finishing David
Mitchell's (rather good) Cloud Atlas on Friday. So far the former seems
a little bland to me - but I'll bear with it, mainly for the reasons you
mention - that there's some interesting faux-conspiracy issues
addressed, particularly with regard to the Priory of Sion.

I'd imagine that's a certainty - and that the majority of organised
religions have done so at some point, for various reasons. Even Buddhism
seems to have become something of a corruption from the original intent
of the Buddha.

Ah, yes, the "memory hole" idea espoused by George Orwell in his fictional
_1984_, with the line:

Who controls the present controls the past.
Who controls the past controls the future.

The idea being that whoever controls the now has the power to tamper with
the way history is recorded -- their biases decide not only what things are
included and omitted, but how the inclusions are written.

As a result, people who emphasize the past when making their own decisions
(traditionalists) only empower the deception of the altered history, and
decisions are therefore indirectly influenced by the deceptions of history's
re-writers.
