Well, as you know, no one equals Lynch in the strange/atmospheric department,
but these sometimes come close...

Excuse me, but Donnie Darko is a bore. Nothing to do with Lynch. I don't
think there is a comtemporary director that can be compared to him.

Hi,
Probably a bit late to this discussion but, have you tried the films of
Peter Greenaway or early Pedro Almodovar. The only two modern day directors
I will mention in the same breath as Lynch.
