As well it should. I had mine replaced once... It didn't cost me anything
(thanks to Gotham Sound..) and I now know the problem with the first one I
had is it is VERY HEAT SENSITIVE. In fact all of the kind Gallery is using
are. Using one in an iBook where the disk is right next to the USB sockets
is not a safe way to record -- especially as Metacorder HAS NO ERROR HANDLING
(as in NONE) and will just exit (stop executing) when it can't find the lousy
hardware key.
All this is complicated by Gallery's using the most complex (and thus far
more heat sensitive) kind of these keys. The simpler one used by BIAS and
pretty mch everyone else is not any problem at all in the same thermal
conditions.
Then we have Mark Gilbert - he was telling me to relaod the entire operating
system to solve this problem, but that advice is utter bullshit. Hey Mark -
these are not PCs we're talking about here bud.

Yes there are. Waves comes to mind here if one wanted to be that nasty in
one's authentication, but in this case the risk is nowhere near as great so
much simpler and far far more reliable auth schemes could be used - if the
author only knew what the hell he was doing.
I could go on at great length about Metacorder, and will as soon as the tv
pilot season here in Los Angeles ends in a couple weeks. In the meantime
if you're not currently a Metacorder owner I strongly advise saving your
money - just because someone prices an app at US$1800 does NOT mean it's
actually worth anything even close to that. There are far better and much
cheaper options available, which come with much more competent support.
