Post subject: question about the movie "Night Shift"?
Archived from groups: rec>arts>movies>past-films (more info?)

"Night Shift" (starring Henry Winkler and Michael Keaton) is a very
funny movie. Anyway, I want to know the name of one of the obscure
actors in it, and I have seen him elsewhere on occasion. Tall guy with
blond hair, very close to the end of the movie, he tries to pick up
Shelley Long in that bath-house thing, and Michael Keaton jumps off the
balcony to try and land on him, but he misses and hits the floor.

I've checked via imdb, but as far as I can tell he's not credited -
there is one for "man in pool", but he wasn't in the pool. He was also
in a short-lived comedy series back in the 80s on Friday nights (called
"Fridays", out of Chicago I think, an SNL skit-type show), where he
plays among other things a character on the news where his segment is
called "Bill Sprint - Sports In A Hurry"

Please post to the newsgroup, as I have this address blocked for spam
reasons -

Thanks in advance -

Can't help you with your guy, but "Fridays" is a rather famous show for only
having survived two seasons.

Of course, one reason is the infamous Andy Kaufman brawl which was recreated
in _Man on the Moon_. But a lot of people also remember Michael Richards in
his pre-"Seinfeld" days as the boy burning plastic soldiers in a pit and
other sketches.

Plus lots of music.

BTW, "Fridays" was out of L.A.

Yes, didn't see MOTM, but I saw footage of that fight, where Michael
Richards gets obviously steamed that AK isn't really doing his part up
to snuff, and dumps all this stuff in his lap or something, I had
forgotten about that.

Yes, he was indeed in that show, I forgot!!!

Thanks for the correction and the additional info! I found out that
the actor to which I refer was a Fridays regular, and his name was
Philip Kaufman (any relation? Don't know)

Bill Sprint, Sports in a Hurry was hysterical, wish I could find a clip
of it somewhere.
(it's conceivable that Bill Sprint was from another show, but I'm
reasonably certain it's from "Fridays")

Here are several clips of "Fridays", none of which I've watched, but I
remember several of these -
