If you are on PC, try Sound Forge. It can save in any format you want.

Try Audacity at audacity.sourceforge.net. It's an open source
multi-track editor and can export Wavs and MP-3s.

I use it for basic to mid-level editing chores and it works quite
nicely.

I've had great success with Nero Wave Editor which comes as part of Nero 6,
Ultra Edition. It's inexpensive and much better than Roxio for burning CDs
and DVDs.

It will import/export all these files:

..mp4
..aiff
mp3Pro .mp3
PowerPack Lame .mp3
Windows Media .wma
TwinVQ .vqf
..wav

It'll even do sample rate conversions.

It now also does MPEG-2 encoding and DD 2.0 audio encoding.

Great program.
