I'm just watching The 39 Steps in a not bad print. The music hall
interior looks quite a bit like Wilton's, with a curved balcony and
metal pillars, although the bar seems to be to the right as you face
the stage instead of the left. The exterior also looks quite similar,
although there's a number 25 bus going past, while Wilton's is down an
alley, and it's not necessarily the exterior of the same building
anyway.

I can't find any information quickly on google. The 25 bus suggests
Oxford Street or Holborn, but it's clearly not the Oxford or the Royal.
Are there any good sources on the internet that I could use to identify
the building?

Thanks,

Helen

Helen,
It mightn't be a bad idea getting in touch with Ken Mogg .. he runs the
MacGuffin online magazine/periodical, which is possibly the biggest
and/or the most extensive online repository for all things Hitchcock. I
think he'd like to meet you.

Are you from London .. do you know a lot about its geography?
Possibly/probably the building that housed that particular music hall
no longer stands in the same state?

Music in Hitchcock films - This topic was touched on in the thread on Hitchcock and logic .. but its far too vast to be dealt with in such a manner, so I thought I'd start a new one. The subject of music in (Hitchcock's) films comes up quite a bit when discussing the director. ..
