Does anyone who went to Pordeonne (sp?) have any news on when us folks might
see new issues of Griffithiana??

Or is it a dead issue? (Pardon the pun)

I'm interested in this myself, as doesn't our very own Greta de Groat have a
Norma Talmadge article in it?

Yes,Greta does have an article about Norma Talmadge in an issue of Griffithiana
and I've been dying to read.I've been trying to track it down for months
without much success.

The Griffithiana web site shows their North America distributor as:

Bilingual Review/Press
Hispanic Research Center
Arizona Sate University
Tempe, AZ 85287-2702, U.S.A.

If there is enough interest I will volunteer to go over there (it's
about 3 miles from my house) and stage a hissy fit until they tell me
what the current status of the latest issue is.

(!!) I wouldn't DREAM of asking you to take up your valuable...ok, if you
really, really *feel* like having a hissy fit. Would you mind taping the
fit part?

Greta de Groat's excellent article on Norma Talmadge appeared in Griffithiana #
71, which was the last issue published almost two years ago. It's available
with other back issues on the Cineteca del Friuli's website.

The articles for issue # 72 were originally set to be STRANGE BEDFELLOWS: UPTON
SINCLAIR PRESENTS WILLIAM FOX by Tricia Welsch, AND HE IS THE SEED OF THE JEWS
by Joseph Halachmi, OPTICAL MACHINES AS A METAPHOR OF THE MIND IN NINETEENTH
CENTURY LITERATURE, and ALICE HOWELL AND GALE HENRY: QUEENS OF ECCENTRIC COMEDY
by
yours truly.

About a week ago an image of a different cover for # 72 appeared on the website
saying something about lost Biograph Bulletins, so it looks like the scheduled
articles may have been scuttled. Why? Who knows? The powers that be at the
Cineteca and the magazine are well known for not responding to messages, so
none of my inquiries over the last year have been answered.

According to the NA distributors, they have received a letter from the
publishers of Griffithiana that issue #72 will be shipped to them by
the end of November.

Orders for subscriptions and/or individual back issues are still being
accepted.
