Also will add that I still have some 12" SD Card Extension cables for sale
which allow you to remote the card slot up near the top edge of the mixer.
Has worked great, no complaints and I'm certain there are a number of people
from RAMPS who have them who will attest to their utility.

The cable from Charles is wonderful. It works like a charm and as
seen serious use by me so it is solid.

Hi Brian! Hey Charles. I third that. The extension from Charles is
wonderful. It's a time saver for sure.

Rado, have you or anyone on this Group used this Eye-Fi wireless SD
system? If so, would you care to comment on its utility?

Thanks,
Brent

I have not used one and I do not have 552.
We were talking about 552 and he was complaining about how hard it is to
take out the sd card, so I came with the idea of EyeFi.
I have ot used it but it is supposed to transfer files over wifi.
Cable is more useful I bet. Was not aware of its existance.

Hi Brent,

I have not used the Eye-Fi wireless cards but I have looked into them
and what I understand is that they only deal with jpegs not mp3 or wav
files. I don't know if it is a format issue.

Cheers,
Theo

Thank you, Theo & Rado, I will look more into it, but I believe the
hard-wired SD extension (by Charles Tomaras) is probably the way to go
for now.

Best,
Brent

I agree regarding the hard cable.. but...

It is interesting technology.. WiFi parts are so small now it opens
up a lot of possibilities. If anyone tries this out with a 552 or
other recorder please be sure to post your notes here.

Maybe the Deva 6 or next SD recorder will have a built-in wifi uplink
feature.. a remote backup to an off-site location (or multiple
servers) would make a lot of sense. Of course if that means we need
anti-virus software on our recorders then maybe it's a bad idea!

The eye-fi cards are geared to use in cameras, so YMMV trying it in a
different device.
