Hey all,

I must say, I'm pessimistically hopeful. It would be great if the film is
well done and leads to more films, but I'm still not gonna get my hopes too
high.

My only real concern is that the Aliens bear quite a similar resemblance to
the ones in Resurrection. This bothers me because I didn't like how the
biomechanoid aspect of Giger's design seemed be buried under a lot of slime
and I didn't like how they seemed to be oozing slime constantly. I really
hated what Gillis and Woodruff did to the design of the creature in the
third film, and I've never liked the acid spitting. It seemed unnecessary
since the Aliens are so damned deadly that spitting acid was just overkill.
I always appreciated the display of intelligence on the part of the Aliens
in the first two films, and in the third and fourth, they seemed be reduced
to any other mindless movie monster.

I really hope the indescribable menace, malice, and mentality of the
creatures will be resurrected (oooh, that was a bad one!) for this film and
any that follow.

Dave

The Alien in AvP seem to be standing on its hind legs though, which the alien
in A3 and A4 doesn't.

As I said, in Alien 4 the Alien walked on all four "legs" and in AvP it seems
bipedal. It also doesn't have that goofy mouth of A4.

And no - they totally rebuilt the alien in avp - no reusing A4 aliens (not that
there were many alien maquettes in A4, most were (lousy) CGI).

Two of the aliens in 'Resurrection' gang together to kill a third one so
that its acid will dissolve the walls of their cage; that's how they get
out. That's smarter than anything they do in any of the other movies.

I dunno. Cutting the power would probably have taken a fair few
smarts. Killing one of themselves to escape seems more cunning than
smart to me.
