Does anyone know what language Lisa Gerrard sings in when she performs
"Now we are Free " in the movie Gladiator? This has always intrigued
me.

Shalom is hello/goodbye, least was last I lived in the Middle East.
Flavum looks Latin;- Medically, regarding supportive tissue. A Latin
student then shifts the meaning to he who cries;- another cites the
wheat fields and colored lens filter. Leesh, I pledge to God.
Shaddai, God Almighty. It's probably safe to assume it's composed in
old Arabic/Latin - Aramaic/Jewish. Recent. First stanza.

Nevermind. I checked my suppositions, and am going to side with it
definitively being Cirque du Soleil stuff -- best listened to while
holding a big ball in both hands, thrusting vigorously upward, body
bowed and extended into one continuous arch. My first encounter is a
woman I notice claiming it was written in ancient Gaelic, a Spanish
tongue spoken only during Roman occupation, but now practically
forgotten. As if singing in mythic tongues beatifically appear to the
chosen in blissful dream consciousness. Others, too. Something for
idle minds imaginatively to fiddle-fart about.

It's not really any language. She makes it up as she goes along. For
her it's more about the sound than the strict meaning, or something
like that. She's done it for years, especially back in the Dead Can
Dance days, but also on her solo albums like The Mirror Pool.

Sandro - when it's good it's good, but she can be a bit tedious
sometimes, like anyone I guess
