Yes. That is correct.
In the original Alien:
After initiating the self destruct sequence, she runs to the escape pod.
However, at the last corner, as she take a peak, she spots the alien inside the
pod. She has no choice but to cancel the self destruct sequence, as there is no
escape.
In the Director's Cut:
After initiating the self destruct sequence, she runs to the escape pod. She
comes upon where Dallas and Brett are cocooned. Then she continues towards the
escape pod. However, at the last corner, as she take a peak, she spots the
alien inside the pod. She has no choice but to cancel the self destruct
sequence, as there is no escape.
