All I've watched is the Dir. Cut of Alien.

I had *plans* for watching the rest...

But I dunno if she is still here to discuss it !

I've watched the "extended mixes" of each of the movies, and some of
the bits 'n' pieces on the Alien disc, but not the whole lot.

I can't say I usually get much out of "extras" on DVDs, other than
sometimes the director's commentary: "making of" and "marketing of"
pseudo-documentaries don't seem to be very interesting, most of the
time.

Do any of the extras in the A:Q box stand out more than the usual
stuff that find their way onto DVDs as padding?

Quite honestly, when they make these documentries out of all of the interviews
that they conduct, I wish that they would just show the interviews unedited

Hello there,

For those who watched all the Quadrilogy extras, may be you can help me to
understand some things.

First of all, I own the previous 20th anniversary DVD Edition and I
was happy to watch in 1999 the two outtakes :

- Rise and Shine (01'00)
- Alien Attacks Lambert (00'52)

When the Quadrilogy Box Set released, I thought to find these short
sequences into the 9 DVDs. But I am disappointed to see that the "Alien
Attacks Lambert" sequence is missing from the DVD No 9 !

However, the "Rise and Shine" sequence have been reedited into a much longer
sequence (02'14).

So, I think this set does not contain ALL the available material from the
20th Fox vault and it is an evidence for David Fincher's Alien 3 movie.

Then, many websites told us that in the Quadrilogy Box Set, there is "an
archive of the complete supplemental contents of the 1992 Alien : Special
Widescreen Collector's Edition laserdisc. Every single bit of text, every
photo and every behind-the-scenes video clip that was found on the laserdisc
is presented here." (TheDigitalBits.com for example).

I don't have the Alien Laser Disc but according to what I read on some
websites, this LD contained these deleted scenes :

- Kane's point of view when the egg open,
- Alien's attack on Lambert,
- Alien's fall from the hatch,
- Alien's blast away of the ship.

May be I am wrong but I didn't find these scenes into the Quadrilogy Box
Set.

Well, I don't understand why the content of the 1992 Laser Disc is not
similar with the content of the Alien Laser Disc Archive from the Quadrilogy
Box Set (in the DVD No 9).

It is very strange because these 9 DVD are very close from a perfect and
complete anthology.

It is a pity that other elements are missing : Ridley Scott's only audio
commentary track from 1999, the beautiful Jerry Goldsmith isolated score,
the alternate music and production audio track, the documentary "Alien
Legacy" and the easter eggs : the alien life-cycle and Nostromo crew bios.

But may be we can expect another giga-mega-ultra 12 DVD Box Set after the
release of an Alien opus 5.

Thank you in advance if you can give me some explanations.

Hmmmm, are you sure? I thought I saw it on the LD stuff . . .
damn, wish I had my box set here!

That Fincher controversy really burns me up. I wish he could've
"taken one for the team" and done an interview or commentary for
AQ, but then I again I just can't blame him for being so angry.
Fincher is *so* talented, I can't believe FOX didn't show him
more respect.

I want that workprint damn it!!!! :-)

Again, I thought I saw everything there from the LD, but I was
watching a TON of stuff over 6-7 days, so I don't remember
*for sure*.

That's why I did NOT sell my copy of the 20th anniversary of Alien DVD!

Knowing how FOX loves to milk (and steal) from it's fans, I
would bet money on it!

I don't know. At the price it is, I was expecting that most
of the people who bought it would be hardcore fans who
would never sell it. Too many people disappointed?

I've had similar experiences as well. What a shame.

Interesting . . . now I'll have to do some research.

Thanks for the info!

Maybe if our educational system wasn't so narrowminded I'd
have known some of that!

Hehe. Actually I have too much Devo on the brain recently.
One of their songs is "Enough Said''.

Yes and no.

I wear contact lens, but it doesn't help with the main problem
which is that I only have a couple of muscles holding the lens in
place so my vision "flloats around". It's tough to explain.

Devo DVD "Now It Can Be Told" with *most* of their videos.

Have a great day!
